The Smoque Shack

This month marks the 1 year anniversary of the Smoque Shack and if you haven’t discovered this Southern BBQ eatery in the heart of the market, get yourself over to 129 York Street ASAP.

Last week the byward team sat down with one of the restaurant’s owners, Warren Sutherland, spending the afternoon reflecting on the past 12 months over a couple pints of local craft beer.

As a veteran restaurateur – having owned an abundance of eateries across the States – Sutherland has designed a menu to last. This ensures that whether smoked over Quebec maple charcoal, Ontario applewood or American hickory, your favourite comfort foods are going nowhere & with live sports featured daily throughout the restaurant, it’s the ideal hangout [and one of Byward's favourites] for the Olympic season.

The menu reads as a best-of list, drawing on mouth-watering grill styles from Southern United States BBQ kingdoms; whether its pulled pork in a North Carolinian style or beef brisket prepared the Texan way, there’s something for everyone.
