Antique Skate Shop secured it’s spot as a forerunner of Ottawa’s hip, store-front hangouts on Saturday, June 16. The ‘Who Invited Mark’ event saw the shop’s new, mahogany floors welcome friends, skateboarders and and art enthusiasts alike; while the still crisply painted walls were adorned with photo evidence of something quite unbelievable. Friends of owner, Aaron Cayer, and familiar faces of the skateboard community: Andrew Szeto, Geoff Barrenger, Skellzo, Mark Dhillon, Charlie Bowins & Tom Pajdlhauser exhibitioned some artistic insight to their recent motorcycle tour across Vietnam.
The evening was a whirlwind of friendly banter, complimentary beverages & refreshments and even a few ca-ching ca-ching’s at the cash register. With the gent’s art priced fairly for a lasting moment in such a unique setting, it’s not surprising the exhibition was a great success. And now, having conquered their local critics, the Motorcycle gang are off to NYC this weekend to spread the word of their travels across the border.
If you haven’t had a chance to check out the shop @ 9 Florence St. be sure to add it to your list of cool new places to shop, loiter and seek refuge from the smoldering summer rays.
And, of course, if you missed the event you can peep full coverage after the jump.
